Make Diaper Rash a Thing of the Past

As parents, we have at heart to keep our babies comfortable and happy at all times.

We kiss them, entertain them, feed them, clean them, and do everything that's best for our bundle of joy and our family.

But when diaper rashes show up, unannounced of course, baby cries and our worries increase.

If you feel like you and your baby are stuck with a diaper rash you can't get rid of, we are here for you!

In this blog, we tell you what can cause diaper rash, what to do in a rash crisis situation, and how to make this nasty irritation a thing of the past, for good and in a natural way!

Why Does My Baby Have Diaper Rash?

Diaper rashes can appear anytime, and for multiple reasons.

But some factors tend to increase the chance of your baby developing a rash.

1- Harmful chemicals

Unfortunately, even if we could consider all baby products safe, it is not always the case.

Some diapers, wipes, and babies' cosmetics contain harmful chemicals that can trigger irritations or worse, allergies, on your baby's skin.

We give you more details on which harmful ingredients to avoid in babies' cosmetics in our blog here.

2- Diaper too tight or dirty for too long

Who would have thought that closing a baby's diaper requires some very specific skills?

Fortunately for us, it doesn't actually require a real diploma, but just a bit of knowledge.

Closing a diaper too tightly doesn't allow the skin to breathe properly and can trigger rashes.

It is recommended to close the diaper snug, to prevent leaks, but not too tight!

How should we close a diaper then? If you can slide about 2 fingers around your baby's waist, then, you should be good.

It is also recommended to change your baby's diaper as often as every 2 to 3 hours to make sure their skin stays clean and dry enough to prevent rashes.

3- Diarrhea

Babies can develop diarrhea for various reasons. From food allergy to stomach bug.

The first step is to go see your pediatrician to make sure that your little-one is not getting dehydrated or that there is no underlying condition that causes the diarrhea.

Often, diarrhea causes a diaper rash because the skin gets irritated by the frequent and acidic stools.
