Let’s be honest - if motherhood had a highlight reel, diaper changes wouldn’t make the cut.
Some days it feels like I’m just going from one diaper to the next, wondering how a person so small can produce so much. And don’t get me started on the 2 a.m. blowouts that somehow require a full bed sheet change and a minor existential crisis.
But here’s the thing I’ve discovered: diaper duty doesn’t have to feel like... well, duty.
Somewhere between the spit-up and the sleepless nights, I realized that changing my baby doesn’t have to be the dreaded part of the day. With a few small shifts, it’s become a moment I actually enjoy.
(Yes, really.)
Here’s what helped:
1. Ditching the wipes (yes, really)

Let me introduce you to my not-so-secret weapon: La Petite Crème.
It’s a French-inspired diaper lotion that replaces wipes and creams. One product, zero fuss, no harsh ingredients. Just a soft cotton pad and a little swipe of the lotion - and poof! Clean, moisturized baby bottom without the wipe drama.
I swear it has single-handedly made diaper time feel fancy.
2. Keeping the chaos kit stocked
There is nothing (nothing) more chaotic than discovering you’re out of diapers mid-change.
I now keep a cute basket stocked with everything: diapers, cream, extra clothes, and an “emergency” chocolate bar for me. (Self-care, of course.)
3. Letting go of perfection

Sometimes it’s messy.
Sometimes the baby flips like an Olympic gymnast halfway through.
And sometimes, yes, you get peed on.
I’ve learned to laugh more, stress less, and keep a spare shirt by the changing table. Just in case.
4. Turn It Into a Bonding Moment

Okay, hear me out: diaper changes don’t have to be all business.
Your baby is right there, usually half-naked and staring up at you like you’re the most fascinating creature on Earth (because, to them, you are). Take advantage. Make eye contact, sing a silly song, blow raspberries on that squishy belly, or narrate what you’re doing like you’re hosting a cooking show.
Not only does this make the moment more enjoyable for both of you, but these mini-interactions actually help with language development, emotional connection, and sensory stimulation.
Bonus: when diaper changes become more fun and less of a wrestling match, everybody wins.
I started using diaper changes as mini check-ins - singing songs, playing peek-a-boo, or just blowing raspberries on that soft little belly. I started slowing down a little.
And weirdly, I began to look forward to it.
Petites pensées
So if you’re knee-deep in diapers and wondering if you’ll ever feel human again, I see you. You’re doing great. And hey, maybe next diaper change, put on some music, light a candle, and pretend you're in a spa.
It might not smell like one… but you deserve the vibe.
